Kings River Rumble: A Day to Remember!

Immanuel Schools - Summer 2025

This summer, the Immanuel community came together in an incredible way to host the inaugural Kings River Rumble football tournament. Thirteen high schools, including 11 public schools, brought their football programs to participate in a full day of intense competition, including a 7-on-7 tournament and twelve lineman events such as the tractor push, weightlifting, hay stacking, tug of war, and the crowd favorite—the river rafting challenge!

But beyond the competition, the purpose of the day was all about outreach. During a hosted tri-tip lunch, a powerful gospel message was shared by Bishop JR Coleman. Our amazing partner, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), brought 200 Bibles to distribute—and they ran out as young men eagerly responded to the Gospel. In total, approximately 400 young men came forward, with 200 making first-time commitments to Christ and many others recommitting their lives to Him. God moved in a mighty way!

A huge thank you to our incredible Immanuel community for teaming together to make this event possible and for being a “light in the valley”. Special thanks to Kings River Rafting, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Eagle Booster Gridiron, and our generous sponsors for your support.

We can’t wait to see how God continues to use this event in the years to come!

New FCA Football Camp in the making!

Get ready Central Cal coastal football coaches!

We are excited to announce the upcoming FCA Team Football Camp experience, organized by Jeremiah Ratliff (FCA Monterey Director) and Jordan De Los Santos (FCA Santa Cruz Director). This camp, designed to foster both athletic and spiritual growth, will take place at the beautiful Redwood Glen Camp in Scott's Valley, CA, from May 23-25, 2025. Over the course of two nights and three days, participants will engage in team challenges, faith-building activities, and various football-related events, including 7-on-7 games and positional skills challenges. The camp also offers opportunities for team bonding through activities like a zipline, tree jump, and lower ropes course. Evenings will be enriched with campfire sessions, and each participant will receive a camp shirt and an FCA Athletes Bible. While the cost of the camp is still being determined, rest assured that it will cover lodging and meals. Stay tuned for more information, and prepare for an unforgettable experience!

A coaches retreat for your season of life!

We are excited to announce the second installment of our FCA ministry, the Coaches Retreat at Hume Lake, set for January 2025. This retreat is designed to serve the unique needs of our local coaches, providing them with an opportunity to grow in their faith and strengthen their coaching for the Kingdom. While spouses are welcome to join, we kindly ask that children remain at home for this event.

Please note that this retreat does not replace the Coaches Time Out (CTO) in Monterey, which is an event specifically for coaching couples. The Hume Lake retreat is open to all coaches, whether single or married, and their spouses may attend as well.

Looking ahead, we are prayerfully considering the possibility of hosting a Coaches Family Camp in the future, which would be an inclusive event for the entire family. We believe this will be a fantastic opportunity to build a solid foundation with our coaches and their families, fostering both personal and professional growth in a faith-centered environment.

Tulare/Kings Golf Challenge

On Tuesday, August 26th the Tulare/Kings FCA Area Director Marcus Martinez held his annual FCA Golf Challenge at the Visalia Country Club. All proceeds from the event are for the coaches and athletes of the county in helping grow the local FCA.org ministry. The bigger the ministry the bigger the impact it has on our community and schools.

We want to thank many of our sponsors of the event Jeff Siegel from EventsMadeBetter.com for bringing the ball canon, Mulligans Indoor Golf Club, Spirit Radio and high school golfers from Dinuba, Mt Whitney, and Tulare Union for playing a role in the success of the event. FCA focuses on serving our young athletes around the globe by engaging, equipping and empowering every coach and every athlete to unite, inspire and change the world through the gospel. FCA has had a presence in the Central California area for more than 35 years.

2-Mile XC Preview

On Saturday, August 10th is the Annual Summer Sizzle by Fleet Feet. Central Cal FCA will be out at the event talking with participants and will be interviewing 2 FCA college athletes. We will be interviewing Jackson Paramo a XC athlete from Fresno Pacific University and Jenae Penner who's an XC athlete from Fresno State University. Both athletes attend their campus FCA Huddles during the school year.

The Summer Sizzle will be held at Woodward Park in Fresno, Ca. Event begins at 7:00am and ends at 8:30am.

XC Athletes from around the central valley will be running a 2 mile course for time and following the run we will be handing out Free t-shirts and watermelon slices until they are gone.

Come out and enjoy the morning celebrating our local athletes, be inspired by our athlete interviews and free items were giving out.

FCA Sand Camp Coaches

They love Jesus and compete!

The 2024 Huddle Leaders for Sand Camp all resonate from the Triumph Volleyball Academy (TVA). This camp is in it's 11th year of existence and many of this years coaches were there when it started. They are now the leaders and organizers of the camp bringing life, love, coaching and Jesus. "It's great to see a program rejuvenate itself with athletes from their program. We are excited to be partnering with Steve Guglielmana and his TVA program. Who knows the campers that we have will continue this camp or perhaps start another later in life." Madera County FCA Director, Pat Lynch.

They've created a great volleyball community that's Christ centered first and family and volleyball to follow. Steve is currently the Head Volleyball coach at Fresno Christian high and his TVA program starts in January traveling all around the country competing in indoor tournaments.

We are putting together the final touches this week for this weekends CTO in Monterey. We've got 70 couples attending this years event and we couldn't be more blessed.

This year we have an array of amazing speakers to help marriages and keep you focused on the important aspect and that's our creator and your family. Saturday afternoon there's an opportunity to spend free time with the speakers to help with questions and fellowship.

Events will begin at Monterey Church on Alvarado Street Friday night with dinner and speakers. Saturday morning events will begin back at Monterey Church with breakfast and the final group of speakers until noon. Saturday afternoon and night is free time for couples to find friends and fun for lunch and dinner. Sunday morning breakfast pick up across the street (Wild Plum) and meet at Carmel Beach for morning service with Pastor JR Coleman. Remember to bring chairs and a blanket it'll be chilly on the beach.

Investing in our coaching families and keeping that nucleus strong and in the word is the objective. There is so much demand for coaches and keeping those priorities is essential.

If you didn't get registered in time for this event there is another coming in January 2025 at Hume lake Christian Camp. More info on that to come. That event will host married and unmarried coaches.

Are you a college student looking for a rewarding and challenging summer ministry opportunity?

Are you a college student looking for a rewarding and challenging summer ministry opportunity or a High School student looking to work Power Camps (campers ages 8-12)? More than 1,000 college student-athletes will serve as Huddle Leaders this summer at FCA Camp.

They will work directly with a small group of campers. The Huddle Coordinator selects these leaders for the Camp; a trained and certified FCA Camp Leader. Each Huddle Leader is carefully handpicked, through careful screening, which includes an in-depth application process which includes references.

Most are involved in the FCA ministry on their college campuses and many were once campers themselves. They are dedicated to Christ, not only at Camp, but in their everyday lives.

Scott and Karen Hagan have inspired and equipped thousands of couples to enjoy and maximize their life, leadership, and marriage. Seasoned and well-loved as leaders and communicators, Scott and Karen have been pastoring and speaking professionally for over 40 years. Married for 41 years, Scott and Karen successfully raised four adult children and now relish life with their 11 grandchildren. Scott loves sports and is the former assistant chaplain for the Sacramento Kings. Two of his sons earned Division-I football scholarships at Cal and Portland State.

Scott holds his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University and is the former President of North Central University in Minneapolis, MN. Scott is currently part a post-doctoral fellowship at Princeton University. Scott and Karen now happily reside in Penryn, CA. The 2024 Night of Champions celebration will be held on Monday, April 22nd at the Smittcamp Backyard. The Smittcamp Backyard is located on the corner of Nees and Minnewawa in Clovis, CA.

Dinner will be provided for a fee of $10 a person. Celebrated Senior FCA Athletes will be able to eat FREE.

This is a celebration for Christian athletes that have held up the FCA ideals thru actions on campus as well as in the competition arena. Each high school has an opportunity to submit a boy and girl from their campus to receive an FCA award.

Also taking place is Huddle Advisor and Philanthropist of the Year awards.

Registration for this event as well as submitting of athletes will be available soon for the April event.

We hope to see you there in support of our Christian Senior Athletes.

FCA Central Cal will be hosting a Sporting Clay Fundraiser at Sun Mountain Gun Club in Coarsegold, CA. March 16th is the set day to come and enjoy the mountains as we raise funds to send football teams to Hume Lake in May.

The course is offering a great variety of trajectories, angles, speeds, elevations, and distances.

Experience one of the finest target shooting facilities in the Central Valley at this members only club.

FCA Football Challenge

FCA Football Challenge is coming up on Saturday, April 20th at the Golden West high school campus in Visalia. This is a full day of football 7 on 7, quarterback competition, kicking competition, and a Lineman Challenge to help raise money for programs to attend Hume Lake Team Sports Camp in May.

"We are opening it up to 24 teams this year to give more programs an opportunity to compete," says Football Challenge Director Marcus Martinez. Marcus is the FCA Director for Tulare/Kings County and the mastermind behind this great event. Helping fund football programs and creating a great atmosphere for teams to enjoy with an added value of a FCA Talk by bringing in a Christian Athlete to give their testimony.

In 2023, 14 schools competed for the Challenge title and received a trophy from the 7 on 7 competition and for the Lineman Challenge.

Football programs from the Tulare/Kings, Fresno and Madera counties are invited to attend the Free Event. Registration is open for high school coaches to fill out. We are asking for sponsors to help fund the event and help get programs to Hume Lake. Sponsorship opportunities and be found on the FCA Football Challenge page. On February 10th we are hosting one of two FCA Date Night's in Selma at The Selma Hills church. Event begins at 6:00pm and will feature guest speakers Mike and Paula Watney. Mike is a retired head golf coach from Fresno State University. This a FREE event to enjoy and be part of FCA Central Cal. We are excited to host an NFL Hall of Fame coach right here in Fresno, Ca. We have an amazing opportunity to to hear from and meet up with coach Dungy for an inspirational faith speech .

On Monday, February 26, 2024 Tony Dungy will be coming to People's Church on Cedar Avenue. We are inviting all athletic programs from around the valley to come and attend this FREE event. Event doors will open at 7:00pm and starting at 7:30 hearing coach until 8:30pm. The seating capacity is 2,000 plus at People's Church so their is no registration required for this event.

We are encouraging all coaches and program to bring their athletes. If you can't bring your program by bus then let's create a car pool.

Coach Dungy is a former football player and coach who served as a head coach in the National Football League for 13 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts. Dungy's teams became perennial postseason contenders under his leadership, missing the playoffs only twice with Tampa Bay. He led the Colts to victory in Super Bowl XLI over the Chicago Bears, making him the first African-American head coach to win the Super Bowl.

Coach Dungy currently serves as an on-site analyst for segments on NBC Sports Football Night in America pre-game show alongside Rodney Harrison and Jac Collinsworth.
